Pukúu’s cultural center in the forest threatened in Eaton Fire
San Fernando, CA, January 13, 2025 – As of today, Pukúu Cultural Community Services’ Haramokngna American Indian Cultural Center, the only tribally operated cultural center in the Angeles National Forest, is still standing. The forest has been severely impacted by the Eaton Fire, which is now less than 2 miles from Haramokngna located at Redbox.
Haramokngna is a center of Pukúu Cultural Community Services that originally opened in 1998 with a Special Use Permit from the Angeles National Forest.
The United States Forest Services announced Angeles National Forest is closed for ”public safety and the protection of natural resources.” Pukúu will continue to monitor the Eaton Fire.
Pukúu is grateful for to the United States Forest Service and unified command who continue working to contain the fire and mitigate damage.
